A Little Background on The Property Man
Leo Summers is The Property Man!
Leo has been investing in property since 1985. He initially used the equity in his London flat to finance the creation of his first portfolio, which eventually grew to twelve properties in south-east London and in Kent.
Then came the Great Crash of '89, followed swiftly by the years of redundancies, negative equity and the ERM fiasco, when mortgage rates shot up from 9% to 15% almost overnight.

Ouch.
Having survived that, Leo went on to build a second portfolio in Ireland, catching the wave of capital growth the country enjoyed from the Troubles to the Good Friday peace plan, and then a third in mainland Europe.
Sometimes he buys to renovate, and sell on. Sometimes he buys to let. Sometimes he buys for himself. Sometimes he buys on behalf of others. He's bought flats, houses, good ones and wrecks. He's bought land, and he's bought shops. He even bought a laundry once!
And in all those deals, he only ever paid full market value (FMV) for one property – that first London flat. It was a lovely two-bed conversion in Greenwich, southeast London, and to this day he regrets selling it. But that’s another story.
